Alright I don\’t do this too often, but a friend reached out to me to help promote tomorrow\’s show at Yugong Yishan – it was one of the unlucky gigs that fell between the cracks of the new and old month with little to zero promotion seen elsewhere. A damn shame as it\’s a stellar lineup that returns the enormous sounding Chengdu psychedelic rock quartet, Proximity Butterfly to Beijing. Their mix of 70s arena rock with an ethereal animated bend sounds friggin epic, a bit of Rage, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd. There’s a definite hippie vibe with these guys that’s easy to wrap your ears around. Let your hair down I say and get your freak on. Check out their most recent praised album ‘Repreive’ – which was all the noise a couple years back. They’re joined by the equally trance-enabling band WHAI as well as surf rocking motel sex duo, The Dyne, who deserve all the love they can get.
Three electrifying bands – potential sleeper gig of the weekend – mark it. Starts at 9pm tomorrow at Yugong Yishan. Tickets are 100 RMB. Be there or be square. Alright, back to your usual broadcast.
