In Pictures: Surfer Blood (USA), Nocturnes (Yugong Yishan 14.07.2016)

Well that was a pleasant surprise. After recalling the band name Surfer Blood from my university days and giving their latest record a spin I wasn\’t expecting much from the Flordia-based indie rock band. Nevertheless, through tight musicianship, and khakis shorts charm, and more than a few songs that stuck with me long after the show, I was won over by the band, who closed out their China tour at Yugong Yishan earlier this month to a slim yet excited crowd of Chinese. I was also excited to check out local indietronic duo Nocturnes, whose sensual atmospheric sound, robust vocals, and crackling guitar (the guitarist reminds me of a kid who just opened up his first guitar out of the Christmas wrapping paper) received a much needed boost from Yugong\’s sound system, and likewise a very warm reception from the crowd. Their sound clearly struck a chord with audiences and I\’m happy to see the band getting their due. Check out more pictures below.
