Due to the lack of bands performing this upcoming week (check the calendar for the few outliers to dip into this week) there is no mixtape in store. Instead, we’ve decided to shed some light on a few other mixtapes that I’ve been loving this past week.
First up, a wonderful electronic mixtape from resident Beijing artist thruoutin, made for Noisey – features plenty of kinetic Asian-centric earworms as well as several more ambient-filled mood setters. Good stuff.
Next, is Bang bang bang de qiaomen sheng（梆梆梆的敲门声), a new SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) radio program which showcases popular and underground music from in and around China. Every show will be introducing a new theme, region or genre. The first in the series focuses on Yunnan. Definitely curious as to what region they hit up next.
